Purchased: October, 2024
Classification: HED achondrite (Eucrite, melt breccia)
History: The meteorite was purchased from a Morrocan dealer on the mineral fair in Munich, Germany.
Physical characteristics: Gark grayish rock partly covered with fusion crust.
Petrography: Complex polymict melt breccia composed of a variety of up to 4 mm sized mineral fragments in finely recrystallized melt rock matrix. Predominant mineral phases are exsolved pyroxene, low-Ca pyroxene, zoned pyroxene, olivine, and calcic plagioclase. Minor phases include silica, chromite, ilmenite, troilite, FeNi metal, and Ni-free metallic iron.
Geochemistry: low-Ca pyroxene host to exsolution lamellae: Fs60.1±0.4Wo2.3±0.2 (Fs59.2-60.6Wo2.0-2.5, FeO/MnO=28-29, n=7); Ca-pyroxene exsolution lamellae: Fs27.6±0.5Wo41.6±0.7 (Fs26.8-28.2Wo40.9-42.6, FeO/MnO=26-33, n=7); low-Ca pyroxene: Fs31.4±0.1Wo2.2±0.2 (Fs31.2-31.6Wo2.0-2.5, FeO/MnO=27-30, n=7); zoned pyroxene: Fs32.4±10.2Wo2.2±0.2 (Fs23.6-52.3Wo2.0-2.3, FeO/MnO=24-31, n=14); olivine: Fa27.0±0.7 (Fa26.5-28.7, FeO/MnO=45±2, n=7); calcic plagioclase: An92.0±0.9 (An90.5-93.2, n=7).
